Who needs egg dye? It's Easter every day when you have chickens.

Probably not a Rhode Island Red, but she certainly looks like one.

Eggscellent!

Farm fresh eggs in designer colors from a friend of ours who raises chickens. I've always wanted blue eggs. Never knew they came in gray and green as well. 

Trees in bloom

I love it when the trees are in bloom. How would the world look if they stayed those colors all year long?

Rolling hills

You can see just a hint of spring in the hills. The evergreens are ready. Hopefully the rest of the trees will green up soon. 

Build a bridge

Here's a shot from a recent road trip. An ordinary bridge with some architectural features makes a great subject for a painting.

This bird was a flash of color on an otherwise gray afternoon at the park. 

Hens and chicks

On my walks around the neighborhood I see so many gorgeous gardens. I'm always concerned people might be worried about some strange woman taking pictures of their plants. 

These hens and chicks were nesting at the corner of someone's yard outside their fence, so I figured they were fair game for a photo op.

The impatient gardener strikes again. I bought these during a warm spell to help attract bees to the garden and to feed my purple obsession. I hope they last until it's really spring...

Patterns in nature

The patterns of wood fascinate me. I found this on one of the pillars holding up the back deck and thought it was worth working on. It reminds me of a Zentangle. 

Burnt roses

I found this photo stashed in a folder in my Stock section. I took it years ago and forgot about it. Thought it was worth playing around with...

It makes a fairly nice black and white print also. 

Shrub

Checking out the front garden the other day, I was amazed by how green this shrub was. It looked like a garden center ad. 

I thought it would look even better in purple, though.

Long rocky beaches...

There's something romantic about any photo of the ocean. No manipulation here, just rocks and moss and water.
